Childrens' Week

Childrens' Week has began. Again, WoWInsider has a great guide up, and I'm sure WoWHead will get one up shortly. Childrens' Week achievments are very easy to get, except for one: School of Hard Knocks. Here are my tips for it:

Arathi Basin- Do anything to increase mounted speed. I as a hunter used Pathfinding, which made me guaranteed to be there first if a pally wasn't in another group besides mine. Also, if you don't get Farm/Stables, don't quit! I suggest going to either Blacksmith, Farm, or Stables, and hide in the water. so many people want the achievment, there is NO defense going on. When the opposite faction cap the flag you're swimming near, wait for them to fully cap it, because if it is contested you will have defended. Shortly after they cap it, they're more than likely to leave. Watch out for any rogues stealthing as soon as they assault it, though. If no one is nearby, run in and cap it. 1 down, 4 to go.

Eye of the Storm- This one is all about which team has the most people in the middle. If it's your team, it just a matter of time before you get the flag yourself. However, if the opposing team gets the center to themselves, you'll probably just have to try next game. Itchy-trigger finger is a must. Halfway there (You'll make it I swear!)!

Warsong Gulch- Play defense. Simple. When someone grabs the flag, chase them. If you are a caster or ranged DPS, go melee for this. When they die, you need to be in capping range right away or you won't get it. If you are a hunter, you'll have to use your 3 melee abilities instead of ranged abilities so you can get the flag.

Alterac Valley- Run, Forrest, run! This one is all about speed, just like Arathi- but even more imporant. Av has become a giant race to get to a tower first. Having a pally in your group is a must. If either, for Alliance, IBGY or RH, is under Horde control, stand in between the two towers near that graveyard and be ready to run to one should the Horde recapp it. The same goes for Horde, but with AS and SHGY. Congratulations on one of the longest achievments towards your proto drake!

Argent Tournament

"Well this Argent Tourney stuff sure is getting old."

"Yeah, I hope they add some new features soon..."

"Doing the same quests every day just for a pet sure sucks."

"Tell me about it."

"Ok, well first you do a quest to become an Aspirant..."

"Shut up. Now."

"And later on, you get to go to Icecrown Citadel and kill the Lich King."

"WHAT?!"

"Oh, shut up? Ok."

"Wait, what were you saying about the Lich King?"

"I said you're gonna wipe if you try to fight the Lich King."

"You can fight him?"

"Of course. For the Argent Tourney. It was added in the latest patch, y'know."

"Well, lets go kill him!"

17 wipes, 3 Argent Tourney dailies, and 1 successful downing later

"What's this?"

"Hmm? Oh, that's just a treasure chest. Anyways, nothing else to do here. We can leave now."

"No loot?"

"Nope. See, his body despawned."

"But the treasure chest?"

"That's just for a Warrior class quest, or something."

"Are you sure? Not gonna double check? I think I see some sparklies...."

"SPARKLIES! MUST LOOT! Wait.... I don't see any sparklies..."

"Look at the treasure chest."

"What, that one that appeared when we killed the Lich King? The one that has a 100% droprate of Frostmourne, which can be sold on the auction house for tens of thousands of gold?"

"Yes! LOOT IT NOW!"

"The one over there? You mean the one that just despawned?"

Elstor the Noble Gardener

I don't garden. Ever. However, I did just finish a long and painful grind to get the title "the Noble," and here are a few things you should know:

A. Don't be a jerk. If someone asks you to move away from their spot, just do it. It's not worth competition and the person blacklisting you from their guild and it's runs (Particularly if their guild is in a guild alliance with yours).

B. On the subject of pathing versus camping- either works. For the lazy, find a good camping spot. For the people who want it done fast, path. Camping will allow you to multitask, but pathing will be much faster if you're willing to work at it (And if you find a good route).

I tried both and found it was easy to camp and watch TV at the same time, but it did take a long time. While pathing, I could still do stuff such as listen to podcasts or music, and get it done much faster but I couldn't do much else at the same time.

C. Eat all 100 chocolates for the achievment at once. Most people don't have the bug I said in the other Noblegarden post I wrote, but it is possible for you to have it. Be safe, and just eat them all together. Or, you could eat just one then log off and back on. If it still counted, you don't have the bug, but if you are back at 0, you have the bug.

Noblegarden

Noblegarden, which has been fully revamped this year, started Sunday morning at midnight, and ends May 2. That's plenty of time to finish the achievements, according to personal experience. In two hours of work you can get half of them done (Or more, if you're lucky, unlike me). Both WoWHead and WoWInsider have excellent guides, so I won't write one here, but I do have some tips.

If you are looking to get as many eggs as possible, as fast as possible, and with as little effort as possible, as most of us are, camp a spawn location instead of running around to multiple spawn locations. Whenever someone anywhere in the zone loots an egg one spawns immediately, so if you find a good spot with two spawn locations that can both be reached from the same location, camp it (if few others, or preferably none, are camping it already).

Many people say "Go to zone X" or "Go to zone Y, and look in the following spots." The truth: Go to whatever zone you like the most. If one zone was way better, it'd be overcamped, which would make the other zones better. The blue of the eggs stands out the same amount whether it's in dark grass (Teldrassil), light grass (Eversong) or snow (Dun Morogh). Durotar has eggs standing out more, but because it is the main capital of the Horde, it has more players. Whatever zone you like best is where you should go.

Also, don't buy anything! First, use 100 chocolates to get the achievement for it, then 10 chocolates to finish the quest. By the time you get 110 chocolates, chances are you'll already have gotten several of the items you can buy from the vendors. Once you've finished the first 110, you can buy whatever you like with any other chocolates you get.

A common misunderstanding is you need 125 chocolates for the chocolate eating achievments. Because the second one is a meta achievement, the first 25 you eat will count towards the second achievement (The meta achievement).

Also several players, myself included, have a bug where the number of chocolates eaten will reset to 0 (Or 25 if you completed the first) if you log out and back in. I am unable to confirm this bug among a larger number of players. This is not just a UI bug- it really will make you eat all the chocolate again. Easy solution to this problem, though, is simple: Eat mor choklit.

"Oh, that? That's just Peggle."

"Peggle? What's a Peggle? Is it a wrestling move or something? Or is it a new Chinese freezer-food that just came out?"

"It's a game... you should try it. I'm sure you'll be pretty good at it. But no way will you beat my high score of 130,060!"

5 minutes later

"Wow, that sure was fun! I got 278,370 on the first stage!"

"Time to uninstall it."

Epic Fail is going to be a blog all about World of Warcraft. I plan on doing strategy guides, funny randomness, my personal experiences, and much more. I know it's a large area, but it'll probably slim down to one area or another after awhile.
